TheGameJar: Year One
TheGameJar is officially one year old and to celebrate we have issued our first ever annual, documenting some of our favourite pieces from the site in the past 12 months. We’ve got two versions for you, one super awesome interactive version for iBooks on the iPad (it’s free, but it might take a little while to download) and another slightly less interactive, but no less awesome, PDF version. Click for your preference below:
Our first year, since spawning somewhere in the dark recesses of Ravenholm, has been one of trial and error, adventures and above all friendship. That’s not me trying to be corny – it genuinely has felt as though we have come together to create some crazy family-esque union; not just the team, but the readers too.
So, to you the reader, and also to TheGameJar team, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for sticking around. You’re the heart and soul of what makes the site worth doing and why we have so many adventures (even from the comfort of my sofa).
This year has been testing, but with that came great memories. We attended Rezzed and ate fish and chips on the beach, Eurogamer and ate BBQ meat, and Gamescom – which meant actually leaving the country to eat currywurst… well, Joey didn’t. Maybe you’ll find your passport this year. We jumped off Battersea Power Station, climbed a stupidly high cathedral in Cologne, got lost on numerous trains (no thanks to Lee), had a picnic, drank too many drinks, went to Ant’s wedding on TV, and met too many amazing people to mention.
Our second year in existence can only get better – people have come and gone, but we will keep doing what we do best… whatever that is. Hopefully you’ll stick around to see what we get up to. We might even bump into each other at an expo, or this year’s picnic (there will be another picnic, promise).
Thank you again. You are awesome.
