How You Feel About The PlayStation Vita

We recently asked how you guys felt about the PS Vita. We wanted to hear from people who have one; were they still using it or had the novelty worn off? We also wanted to hear from those of you who didn’t have one, and to find out your feelings towards it. Is it too expensive? Is the lack of software putting you off, or is it something that you want so bad but can’t afford just yet? We’ve collected up how you feel about it from all our social networky type things and if you have something you want to add pop it up in the comments below.

1. Price. 2. If I was going to blow 300 on a gaming system I’d buy one for my house not a portable one that can be dropped nd stolen a lot easyer, they should’ve given up after the PSP.

I own vita, happy with the tech but slightly miffed at the lack of games being released or indeed announced for it.

I have played on a Vita and I do think it’s an awesome bit of kit, fantastically powerful, the main problem is the lack of support for it. I will be purchasing one later in the year as I have always been a handheld gamer and it will go well in my collection. It is such a shame that it was so poorly timed and so expensive. I think in time it will become more popular, just as the 3DS had poor starting sales and now is doing relatively well. Plus the added 3G will be interesting to try out.

I bought the PSP many years ago, never used it. It just doesn’t appeal to me. Would be money wasted if I bought it.

I don’t get time to handheld game, I have an Ipad, DS and a PSP and find I use my Ipad for games more than the others. The only time the old handhelds get dusted off is if I go on holiday. If i commuted everyday by public tranport then I might be tempted but thats a lot of corn to spend on something that has very few must have titles!!

I have one, happy with it so far but would like some more games.

@SgtBenton

I have one – but need games for it.. Sony really dragging their heels on releases.. :(

- @Shade360

I have a Vita and i love it, its a brilliant bit of kit and have loved the games i’ve played so far, but that’s the biggest problem, the games, where are they?? Since launch there has been just a handful of new games, and as any console will live or die based on what games are released, im seriously worried my cherished Vita will die a slow death and ill be left with something great but unsuable.

Would be a huge shame if it fails.

- Mark

Needs more games but they appear to be slowly coming. First year of a handhelds life=hell.

Waiting on 2 things : A price drop for BOTH the Vita AND memory card, AND for Final Fantasy X HD

- @creedandrade

The only thing in this piece I’d take issue with is the idea that games are overpriced. Of course, I’d like them to be cheaper but I don’t think you’re comparing like for like. Uncharted Golden Abyss for example is a full blown Uncharted game, not what we’d traditionally consider a handheld version. FIFA too, mechanically it’s an old FIFA I know, but it’s still a full blown version. These games aren’t stripped down mobile games, and in my opinion should be viewed differently when comparing prices. If anything, Sony needs to get the message across more. You’re not buying a mobile version, you’re taking the home console game with you.

Plants vs Zombies I’ll give you though, way over priced when compared to the far superior iOS version.

    Never got round to replying to this but meant to. I have a 3G Vita and I take it to work with me everyday. I always manage to find a time to have a go on it. Sometimes can be in office alone for four hours with no work to do so having PS Vita and games like Virtua Tennis and Fifa can pass some serious time. As for the lack of games it’s a bit frustrating especially when there are games like uncharted which really show off what the vita can do if done correctly. Love how they have made the most the touch screens to clean artefacts and a personal favourite of mine was when I was sat holding the vita up to a bright light to see the watermark on a piece of paper. Hopefully Sony and the devs will start to see the vita as something worthwhile. I have a phone and iPad and find that the games on there are great whilst avoiding conversation at tea time and when sat bored when visiting family but for me I prefer a dedicated gaming console for my portable gaming.
