An Invitation To TheGameJar Picnic 2012
TheGameJar has been going for almost 4 months now, that’s next to nothing in the grand scheme of things. Gaming sites like ours are ten to the penny, and back when we started out we knew that – we had no illusions about what we were getting ourselves in to, as myself, Jenn and the now no longer with us Ben had all done this before (to varying degrees of success). I should point out Ben isn’t dead… he got a job at a developer’s, and sadly had to say goodbye.
In just this short space of time TheGameJar has gone from strength to strength, I couldn’t have dreamt so many people would be reading the site this early on. This is down to the brilliant bunch of guys we have contributing to the site (yes, even Joey), the support from various people within the industry who have helped us out over the last few months, friends from other websites and of course our community and readers.
We wanted to do something to thank you all – those industry people, friends from other gaming sites, our readers and our community. We wanted to do something that was fun, light hearted and nothing too extravagant (we don’t have the money for such things).
So we settled on throwing a picnic.
Yup that’s right, we’re all going to turn our consoles off for the day and heading out to Hyde Park in London for some fun in the sun.
So join us on the 23rd of June for our first get together; it’s nothing serious or formal we just fancied a day out and would love for you to come too. You can of course bring who ever you like with you; friends, loved ones, family, readers and writers from your own gaming website (should you have one) – Bring anybody! They don’t even have to be gamers, the more the merrier.
TheGameJar team will be there from around 11, so show up when ever you’re ready. Over the course of the day we’ll mostly be lying down on the grass talking about games, kicking a football around, playing a bit of frisbee and generally chilling out.
If enough people are interested and want to join us for the day we’ll have a pub style gaming quiz with some prizes, and if we can work out the technical logistics to pull it off we’ll try doing a live recording of the DeathByRobots podcast, getting any of you who might want to be on it involved.
